When someone enters their name in the registry, their body someday will save six lives. So we decided to show that your name can literally save six people—by showing six first names within common American full names. We poured through hundreds of names to find the most interesting hidden names—like “Abe” within “Elizabeth”, or “Liam” within “William,” while at the same time, keeping the full name as short as possible. The simple ad, with a call to visit registerme.org, raised awareness to show how easy it is to use your name to register and make a real difference for people on the organ waiting list.
The ad opens with the stark statistic that 120,000 people are waiting for an organ donation, with the sobering follow-up that one person dies every hour as a result. It highlights that a single organ donor can save many lives. The ad creatively uses the visual of a full name, such as "Elizabeth Williams," to highlight embedded names like "Abe" and "Liam," demonstrating how registering as an organ donor could directly impact real lives. It shows various names interlinked with portraits representing the people saved. The straightforward design makes the message impactful. Text on the screen invites viewers to register as organ donors through social media, spreading awareness without a monetary budget but accomplishing significant reach and impact. The ad has been praised for its effectiveness, underlined by praise from the Obama Administration, and notes 19,000 lives impacted so far.
